Most of my conversations these days have centered around anger, confusion, overwhelm and stress. We have big shit going on in the world and when you combine that with the overwhelm...ahem, joy of the holidays you may find yourself feeling just plain shitty.
Here are a few ways that I have watched my clients thrive during and after extreme stress and overwhelm.
First, if you haven't checked out the book Burnout by Emily Nagoski and Amelia Nagoski then you absolutely must. You can also do a quick YouTube search and learn how to complete the stress cycle. You know when you feel stress it gets trapped in your mind and body. As much as you may feel like collapsing into a puddle of stressed out mush that isn't a good long term solution. Solution? Go move your body. I know, sorry but it's true. You need to physically move the stress out of your body. If you have a regular routine super, if not, go walk, punch a pillow, jump up and down, do yard work, anything to vigorously move that shit out.
Second, after you have felt the feels, moved the shit, it's time to come back to center. Some things to consider are what's most important to you, who are you and how do you use that superpower to propel you forward, how can you use this anger/overwhelm as a information to help you be different? The goal is not to stay in the shit but to use it to your advantage as much as possible. Let it light your fire to create change.
