Have you heard of Hygge?
hyg·ge /ˈh(y)o͞oɡə,ˈho͝oɡə/ noun
a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being (regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture).
I didn’t realize it was a thing until a few years ago and now I’m all about it. In the last week I’ve had several clients concerned that that are tired and not motivated to do a whole lot.
Brace yourself because your trainer is about to rock your world! It is dark and cold...permission granted to slow down, get comfy and enjoy warm and cozy things.
It’s not sustainable to go all in all the time. Winter is a wonderful time to slow your roll and is a natural way of slowing us down. Don’t fight it. Lean in. Light some candles, make a pot of soup and snuggle up with a book or your people. Surrender to it instead of fighting it.
It is possible to eat healthy, get your workouts in and yet slow down. Be mindful of your comfort meals and don’t blow off your fitness because it’s cold outside...but still...find time to fill the need to rest.
Look up the Hygge it’s a pretty lovely way of being.
How do you get your Hygge on? Been fighting it? Drop me a line and I’d be happy to support you in making space for calm and cozy while keeping your healthy habits going strong.
